Michigan State Women's Ice Hockey

35 games. 6 months. This is all it takes. 6 months of playing, studying, skating, tears, laughter, partying, and living together under many conditions. What you are seeing is much more than a hockey team, it's a family. This group of girls has come to know their teammates on a level greater than just someone who they slap the puck around with day-in and day-out. Hockey has become an outlet to forget about everything 'else.' When we step on the ice, it's our sister's and the ice- that's it. The feeling of skates swiftly crunching the solid, frozen ice or the adrenaline rush that accompanies the red light, is second to none.
On a college campus with 48,000+ students, it's easy to feel like just a number in the crowd, especially coming here not knowing a single soul. On this team, you are instantly blessed with 20 friends who share a common interest. Every time we skate, we represent our school and ourselves, proving over and over that being a Spartan is something special that we are all proud of. Not only do we go to a great Big Ten University, but we play for it as well. These ideas have caused us to fully appreciate the famous line of the "Miracle on Ice" coach, Herb Brooks, "...the name on the front of the jersey is a hell of a lot more important than the one on the back..." Classic and old, yet I couldn't agree more.
We hope that you will take the time to preview our website and get to know a little more about our program. Your encouragement, comments, and support in any form are greatly appreciated. As always, GO GREEN!
